Mazel Tov! A Private Lakeside Holland Wedding
Private home | holland, MICHIGAN
8.17.2024
There are some weddings that you feel so deeply honored to be a part of, and then there are those where the couple and their families become so much more than clients—they become friends. That was exactly the case with Allie and Louis. From our very first meeting, I knew this was going to be a wedding unlike any other. Their love for each other was palpable, their families were warm and welcoming, and the end result, their wedding day, was nothing short of magical.
Allie and Louis chose to celebrate their marriage at a family lakeside home in Holland, Michigan—an intimate and meaningful setting. The whole experience was an unforgettable blend of family tradition, Jewish heritage, and the beauty of Lake Michigan.
The importance of teamwork: a planner & designer united
One of the reasons this wedding was so spectacular was because of the seamless collaboration between the teams who helped bring it all together. At Paper Hat, we take pride in not only handling the logistics and making sure the day runs smoothly, but also in working hand-in-hand with talented partners who elevate the entire experience. For this wedding, I had the privilege of working closely with designer and florist Rhiannon Bosse, who brought her unique artistry and vision to life in the most beautiful way.
Having a planner to focus on the details and logistics allows the designer to work on the artistic side of the celebration. For Allie and Louis, this dynamic duo was essential in making sure every aspect—from the ceremony to the reception—would be both stunning and well-coordinated. Rhiannon created a beautiful aesthetic that felt elegant, and totally personalized to the couple, while providing breathtaking floral moments throughout.
Rhiannon’s vision combined textures, pops of bright colors, whimsical florals, and even scents that complimented the lakeside location and infused the celebration with a sense of both tradition and modern elegance.
The beauty of a private home wedding
There’s no denying that working at a private home—especially with a tent—is a unique challenge. But there’s something so special about hosting a wedding at a location that holds deep meaning for the couple. Allie and Louis’s lakeside home added a layer of intimacy and personal connection to the entire day.
As with any private home wedding, there were logistics to consider, from making sure the tent was perfectly positioned to ensuring everything was set up properly and on time. After many meetings, plans and site visits, I couldn’t image a more perfect layout. There were challenges, of course, but the end result was even better than we had originally planned. The beauty of the lakeside home, the view of the water, and the stunning reception setup made it all worth it. We transformed the space into a beautiful oasis, and the end result was a celebration that felt both elegant and personal.
Honoring Jewish traditions
One of the most beautiful parts of Allie and Louis’s wedding day was the incorporation of meaningful Jewish traditions. They wanted to honor their heritage and family history, and made sure their ceremony reflected their love for their culture.
The chuppah, a symbol of the couple’s new home and life together, was an absolute highlight. Standing under that gorgeous floral covered structure, surrounded by family and friends, Allie and Louis exchanged vows beneath the family willow tree. The chuppah was a beautiful focal point for the ceremony, symbolizing the beginning of their new life as a married couple. It felt sacred, timeless, and full of love.
The perfect day from start to finish
From the ceremony adorned with colorful umbrellas, to dining tables with their overlay linens, to the party tent with the printed dance floor, everything went off without a hitch with the most perfect weather Michigan could ever give us. The day unfolded beautifully, and I’m so proud of how everything came together. It was a perfect balance of tradition and celebration, of family and friends, of love and joy.
I feel so lucky to have been a part of their journey and to have played a role in creating a wedding that was not just a celebration of their love but a meaningful and beautiful day they’ll never forget. It was a perfect example of how important it is to have a wedding planner who handles the logistics, a designer who creates the atmosphere that makes it all come together.
Thank you, Allie and Louis, for letting me be a part of such a special day. I’ll cherish the memories of your lakeside wedding forever and will always be grateful for the friendship that blossomed along the way.
Here’s to love, laughter, and the incredible journey ahead for you both! Mazel Tov!
