A Big Wedding at the B.O.B.

The B.O.B. | Grand Rapids, MI

We love when California couples traverse over from the sunshine state to celebrate here on the third coast. The warmth followed Kelsey and Katie from their engagement in Hawaii, to their current home in Cali, all the way out to their wedding day in Grand Rapids.

Both Kelsey and Katie are actually from Michigan and met here as well. They started travel nursing in 2017 and have been on the road since, but Michigan will always hold their hearts, as well as their people, so they couldn’t have imagined having their wedding anywhere else.

One of the biggest timeline challenges was making sure we got everyone in for hair and makeup to get beautified on time, because these ladies had the most amazing support system, their house was full to bursting with all of those ready to celebrate their day. Even with all the photos where everyone was all glammed up, re-living the moments where everyone was together in the house within all the getting ready shots were some of my favorite from the day.

Starting back-to-back, the girl’s first look in front of their handmade hexagonal arbor was teary and heartfelt. During the planning process we would joke as I would consistently comment on their Instagram stories on all the time they spent on their decorations, and you could tell just how much love went into everything: from the hoop bouquets to the floating hexagon photo holders showcasing all of their adventures. And my favorite wedding shoes of all time: the gold converse with the special monogram on the heel.

As with the best Michigan traditions, a Blue Bridge wedding ceremony can’t be topped. With love and triumph, Taylor J. Photography captured the emotions of all the girl’s loved ones and guests so genuinely.

The party continued over a the B.O.B. (the Big Old Building for those that are unfamiliar,) and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house once Kelsey and Katie began their first dance. Then, finishing off the most perfect day with the most perfect golden hour photos. We count ourselves so lucky to be able to witness these two start their lives together. Or if you know, that “Hood” life together!
